Thank you for being one of the 2,348 petitioners to the Gold Coast City Council concerning aspects of proposed property developments at Burleigh Heads.
On 30 July, Council approved the most controversial and contestable development, namely, the re-development of "White Horses", 48 to 58 The Esplanade.
Whilst we have supported renewal of this and other sites, we asked Council to respect the existing built environment and provide set-backs and densities consistent with proximate high rises. Sadly, this has been ignored.
This development will consist of two 22 story towers built above a three-story colonnaded podium out to the footpath! Five councillors voted against the proposal which was encouraging but sadly not enough.
Many other over-developments are being approved along the Gold Coast beach front and environs and Councillors need to hear from concerned citizens directly.
