"UPDATE:

"God Has Released Sylvia From Prison" on Monday October 27, 2025

First and foremost,

Thank you for taking the time God has given you this day, to read this petition. Your kindness, more than you know, means a great deal to my sister Sylvia and all those who love her, and long for her freedom. If after reading this petition, you feel Sylvia deserves to be Free, please sign this petition, and if you want to help more, please share this Petition Link to your family friendly social media profiles. You will not only be helping Free Sylvia, but you'll also be helping us bring attention to the world about other individuals serving unfair prison sentences, as well as individuals serving wrongful prison sentences.

Before you read this petition, a dear  sister in Christ has expressed to me, words that sum up to this statement: "We all at one point in our lives, have done something that we should not have done that is "Not" pleasing to God, whether you believe in God, or not!

With that said,

My sister Sylvia Trevino, who is a Christian, and Senior Citizen (60 Years of Age), is currently serving a prison sentence that Far Exceeds the Normal Sentence Time for the mistake she 100% acknowledges she committed to be incarcerated for, (which is a Non-Murder Case), since the year 2000, when her three sweet daughters were young children (Her youngest daughter was still in the crawling stage). I've spoken with so many individuals about Sylvia's mistake, who have told me that if they were the Court Judge who sentenced Sylvia, they would have sentenced Sylvia to a sentence of five to ten years maximum. Sylvia is not only extremely remorseful and greatly wishes she would have handled the situation differently, but has repented and has been forgiven by God for her sins which are currently keeping her incarcerated, but she has also been, and is an exemplary inmate, and has also led and still leads numerous programs aimed at rehabilitating other female inmates as well as herself. Despite these positive contributions, Sylvia's Parole was denied on January 26, 2024, solely, according to the Prison Parole Board, because Sylvia purchased needed items for another inmate who could not afford to purchase the needed items for herself. For this act of kindness, Sylvia was denied her parole. Sylvia will have another parole board hearing, in early 2025. This denial of parole is not just a blow to my sister, but it also impacts our family deeply. Her children and grandchildren are growing up without their mother and grandmother respectively, missing out on the love and guidance she could provide outside the prison walls.

Our family's suffering extends beyond these immediate relatives. Our aging mother yearns for her daughter's return home before she passes away - a wish that becomes more urgent with each passing day. Our mother talks to my sister Sylvia daily to encourage her and to keep Sylvia's peace.

The United States Department of Justice reports that in 2018 alone, over 80% of offenders who were eligible for parole were granted release after their first or second hearing (source: U.S Department of Justice). Yet my sister remains confined despite being a model prisoner who poses no threat to society.

This petition seeks justice for my sister Sylvia and our family, by requesting an immediate review of her case with full consideration given to her good behavior in prison as well as the disproportionate length of time she has already served compared to others convicted of similar crimes.

Upon her release from prison, Sylvia along with the help of family and friends, will be establishing a Nonprofit Organization to help  inmates (both women and men) experiencing unfair prison sentences and sentences for crimes not committed.

Please sign and share this petition if you believe in fair sentencing and the power of second chances. Your signature can help bring our beloved sister home where she belongs, as well as other families loved ones currently serving unfair prison sentences, and wrongful prison sentences.

P.S. If you feel you need to know what Sylvia did to be unfairly sentenced before you sign this petition, please reach out to me via email, and I would love to share this information with you via Zoom, Skype, or phone.
