Demand for Livable and Habitable Conditions For All Residents at Bellemont Apartments!
The Issue
The communities that are owned and operated under the non-profit Global Ministries Foundation and PAC Housing LLC, promote resort style amenities, a safe and beautiful community. GMF's website promotes their overall mission is and I quote "(1)Global Ministries Foundation exists to bring together and strengthen the efforts of individuals and churches to reach the world with the gospel of Jesus Christ and to minister to those in need.
We accomplish this mission in a variety of ways."
One of those ways is affordable housing, their website states and I quote "(2)By working with local partners, GMF offers each housing community services below based on location and resident needs. All services are provided at no cost to the residents and are completely voluntary." The community services listed on their website are safe & sanitary housing, employment training, personal finance classes, computer classes, childcare and tutoring, dental and medical services, meals & groceries and biblical and spiritual guidance.
GMF-PAC is one of the operations branchs' off the parent company, GMF. To my understanding they have about roughly 60 properties nation wide and research shows that more than half are in deplorable, hazardous and inhabitable conditions. PAC Housing LLC which is working in conjunction with GMF, owns 31 properties nationwide and their mission promotes and I quote "(3)Our Workforce properties are apartment properties that are beyond the “brick and mortar” we strive to create a community that not only enhances the lives of the residents through many social impact programs but also has a positive impact on the greater community and neighborhoods to which the property belongs. We deliver on this promise through our commitment to supporting the residents of our properties. PAC Housing Group is committed to providing more than high-quality housing. We are expanding our definition of success to include owner asset managed communities with support services for those who need them most. We believe this will result in engaged and fulfilled residents who take pride in their home and community. The key to our success and prosperity is a direct result of our exceptional management team and together we strive for excellence and to ensure the success of our assets."
These mission statements are very far from the truth about the inhabitable conditions and health hazards the community residents have to endure. I can only speak for myself and on behalf of the Bellemont Apartment Community... Enough is Enough. I am creating this petition to demand respect and habitable conditions! We are demanding that the structural hazards be fixed immediately, including but not limited to the confirmed black mold within the insulation of every building. The strand of black mold is the most hazardous to human health and can cause IRREVERSIBLE neurological damage, and symptoms of agoraphobia. We demand that all residents have clean and working AC units producing clean air. Some residents have gone over a year with working AC units. We demand new and updated plumbing throughout the entire property, to ensure the water quality is safe per our local parish standards. We demand new and updated appliances and electrical wiring through the entire property. Our expectations, created by GMF-PAC's false representation of an immaculate living community, aren't being met. Two promises noted are, the resort style pools and a beautiful, gated community that is clean and landscaped. We demand for the pools to be in working order considering, that this property has four,which none are in usable condition. Two of the four are filled with sand and other unsafe debris. We demand for our maintenance requests to be handled efficiently and effectively within 48 hrs. We demand privacy and respect when it comes to our mailboxes. When theft is reported, take measures to handle each and every issue with upmost concern. We demand that the laundry centers and appliances be updated immediately, to ensure our clothes are clean and checked on a quarterly basis. These demands aren't menial when it comes to living and properly raising a family, with some children even having special needs. When living in an apartment home that is potentially causing neurological damage and health hazards, could potentially produce life threatening injuries as well. Action must be taken seriously! We demand that the management respect us and handle ALL situations in a professional manner. Not continuing to treat us as we are a burden when it comes to addressing our issues and concerns. We demand GMF uphold what is stated in GMF-PAC's websites and to furnish their residents with supportive services, and activities for the children that reside here.
I can not stress enough on behalf of Bellemont Apartment's community that we have had enough of inhabitable living conditions! We want and are demanding swift action to remedy these issues. We love our families, and want to enable ourselves and children to enjoy their neighborhood community!
The solution is to put in place a feasible and time sensitive process to get the renovations done in uniform fashion. To create a Community Services Division to enable a way to provide these community services and activities. Streamline service requests by updating the process in which residents submit and keep up with their requests, and refunds for the laundry centers. Renovate the properties with the funding from HUD and taxpayer money, and handle all protocol and process issues, provide safe and sanitary housing, along with the resort style amenities you promise on marketing ads in local cities.
