GLOBALLY END THE EXILE/BAN OF PITBULL/BULLY BREED TYPES

The Issue

As someone living with epilepsy, I have found an irreplaceable companion and lifesaver in my PitBull/Bully Breed(s), a seizure alert service dog. And I am the founder of Sirs Sanctuary apart of our program is training this breed type to be a specific type of service animal and I can say that despite their reputation, pitbull’s and bully breeds are docile and loving dogs. Any breed born into this world does not know aggression or violence until it is introduced to them. Their perceived threat to society is not inherent but rather the result of irresponsible ownership.

The Dangerous Dogs Act 1991 is an Act of the Parliament of the United Kingdom prohibiting or restricting certain types of dogs and codifying the criminal offense of allowing a dog of any breed to be dangerously out of control. The Act has been controversial for failing to stem the rise of dog attacks and for focusing on a dog's breed or looks instead of an individual dog's behavior.

Currently, these breeds face bans and exile across the world due to misconceptions about their nature. All of our dogs are being taken away from their homes by authorities and being taken to a “shelter” to be euthanized either in groups or in a specific order, does this not sound a bit like genocide for them? There are so many other solutions to think about and we, the world, are speaking up for a change, with a better approach.  This is not only unfair but also unjust as it doesn't allow these breeds any opportunity to defend themselves or prove their worth as loyal companions. We would like to propose a strict global registry act that holds owners accountable for the behavior of their dogs. This act would focus on the owner more and impose fines, jail time, ownership bans, or restrictions on breeding rights on owners who fail to meet the criteria, and requirements. This registry would aid in decreasing the number of incidents that has been occuring and protect the ones that have never had an incident and not be penalized instead by how they look.

By signing this petition you're supporting a fairer system where blame is placed where it belongs, with irresponsible owners, instead of punishing innocent animals who deserve love and respect just as any other breed. Please sign this petition today! Every signature will make a change.
