Global petition: Gianni Infantino to resign & FIFA reform
The Issue
Languages: ARA| DEU| ESP| FRA| IND| ITA| POR
Football belongs to the people who fill the stadiums, follow their clubs and national teams through triumphs and heartbreaks, travel across countries and continents, pass the game from one generation to the next and keep it alive every day of the year.
Yet, one man seems to believe that he is more important that football.
Today, supporter organisations representing hundreds of millions of fans across every continent are launching a worldwide petition calling for Gianni Infantino to resign and for FIFA to be rebuilt so that the current debacle can never happen again.
The shameful attempt by one individual – the FIFA President himself – to sell off the World Cup to private investors exposed a betrayal football will never forget.
Infatino’s plan was stitched together in secret. Negotiated behind closed doors. Hidden from FIFA’s own members and from the millions of people whose passion makes football what it is.
It was a betrayal.
Football stopped him. But the collapse of the so-called FIFA Forward Entreprise is only the culmination of a series of attacks lead by Infantino against football. From his clandestine involvement in the European Super League to the defunct two-years World Cup cycle project, from the extortionate ticketing policy at the 2026 FIFA World Cup to the culture of intimidation and personal power that he developed within international football, Gianni Infantino has betrayed his office and football as a whole.
Enough.
Now is the time for a wider movement to stop Gianni Infantino once and for all from abusing the office of FIFA President, and to restore trust in the very institution that is supposed to protect and develop world football.
#1: Gianni Infantino Must Go
The FIFA Presidency is an office of trust. This trust has been irremediably broken. Gianni Infantino has demonstrated a profound failure of leadership, incompatible with democratic governance. The concentration of power around the FIFA Presidency, combined with opaque decision-making, personality cult clientelism, and zero accountability, has destroyed any remaining trust in the world governing body.
The attempt to place the World Cup “on the market”, combined with years of systematic abuse of the office of FIFA President – through secrecy, intimidation, the concentration of power, the marginalisation of football’s stakeholders and the use of institutional authority for personal ends – has destroyed confidence in Gianni Infantino’s leadership. A president who repeatedly betrays football and makes a mockery of our game has lost the right to lead it.
For the credibility of FIFA – and for the future of the game – he must resign.
#2: Reform FIFA Now
Removing one individual will not, on its own, repair the damage. FFE exposed structural weaknesses in FIFA’s governance that made this abuse possible. These weaknesses must now be eliminated through reforms guaranteeing:
- Full transparency around major decisions,
- Meaningful consultation with confederations, member associations, leagues, clubs, players, and supporters
- Formal involvement of supporters and other key football stakeholders in decisions that shape the future of our game
- Robust checks and balances on executive power
- Stronger independent oversight and accountability mechanisms and
- Protections to ensure that football revenues are reinvested in the game and not diverted to external investors
The current system of self-regulation at FIFA has repeatedly failed to provide sufficient accountability. Football stakeholders and public authorities must work together to establish governance standards that are fit for purpose and capable of protecting the game for future generations.
The Time to Act Is Now
FFE was defeated, but the culture that produced it was not.
Football deserves leadership that is accountable to the game, not power without scrutiny.
As supporter organisations representing hundreds of millions of fans around the world, we are united in demanding the immediate resignation of Gianni Infantino as a first step to FIFA governance reform.
And we are calling all football fans to join the movement by signing the petition.
