The Issue

Currently, the sport of pickleball is exploding in popularity. There are now nearly 8,500 locations on the USA Pickleball’s Places2Play map. The spread of the sport is attributed to its popularity within community centers, PE classes, YMCA facilities, and retirement communities. The sport continues to grow worldwide as well, with many new international clubs forming and national governing bodies now established on multiple continents.

There are 41 Outdoor Tennis Courts within the Glenview Park District.  There are six (6) dedicated Pickleball Courts at Flick Park within the Glenview Park District.

Do you support the Glenview Park District adding new or fully converted Pickleball Courts to one or more parks within the District?

Pickleball, often named 'the fastest growing sport in the United States', grew 21.3% in 2020 with about 4.2 million players in the USA.  The sport is accessible to all ages and is a very social sport.

Step one in this effort is this petition.  Step two will be presenting the petition to the Glenview Park District Board of Commissioners at a future public meeting.  Ideally, we can convince the Commissioners to add Pickleball court construction to the 2022 or 2023 programming program.  All worthwhile efforts take time.  Please join us.
