My gym (GLASGOW LIFE) at Scotstoun back before the pandemic, was having the swimming pool & health suite facilities refurbished. The pandemic hit, and so everything got delayed. Now June 2022, and two years later its going to open BUT Glasgow Life have decided not to have the health suite facilities included, stating....the strategic decision was made to remove the health facilities from Scotstoun  - this was to increase the changing facilities and toilet provision....  (16 June 2022) see link below

Now for one, health suites this including things the sauna, steam rooms and even jacuzzi and just like swimming, are very important to peoples well-being, and mental health and obviously Glasgow Life haven't clearly thought this through - and have decided to take away the sauna elements of this very important health benefit - and I know a lot of people used the facility before the closure at the start of the pandemic.

Now I'm (and many other service users) are stuck with either finding a new venue that offers the same facilities but most likely at a much larger cost or have two memberships, which is somewhat very annoying and inconvenient, and with the rising living costs MANY may opt not to and this knock on effect could lead to more mental and wellbeing issues.

Mine and other service users mental health and well-being are now at risk of getting worse by the loss of this important facility.

We are also at risk of losing other the health suite venues across the Glasgow Life network because as of the 8 June 2022 (see link above) Glasgow Life are still doing reviews of the other venues but with some what uncertainly, the health facilities across the Glasgow Life network could be lost completely - this should not be allowed to happen!!

13-19 June 2022 was Men's mental health week and facilities like this help in peoples health & well-being and shouldn't just be axed for the sake of it, or because of budget reviews.
