The Govan Fair Association, the people of Govan and Glasgow hereby call on Glasgow City Council and other bodies and groups to support the Govan Fair Association to organise and lead the 260th anniversary of the annual Govan Fair event on 3rd June 2016.

Background

Last year the Govan Fair Association was restructured, on the recommendation of the charity regulator OSCR, as a charitable limited company to modernise the organisational structure. This also opens up the GFA to wider membership. Previously the only persons recognised by OSCR, as members of the association, were the committee.

The Govan Fair Association are moving forward with a positive mission to make the Govan Fair one of the most exciting community-led events in Scotland. We are calling on the whole of Glasgow and beyond to get right behind them this year and for many years come. To come along and support the event and its participants on the day.

The Govan Fair now has two very high profile Patrons - the First Minister Nicola Sturgeon and Glasgow’s Lord Provost Sadie Docherty.
