Petition updateRestore Govan Graving Docks in Glasgow to create a shipbuilding heritage park #SaveGovanDocksStill No Sign of the Planning Application

Despite the developers New City Vision claiming earlier this year that they would be submitting a planning application for Govan Graving Docks early in April, we are now into July and still nothing has been submitted to Glasgow City Council.
This is just the latest in a series of delay after delay from the developers for several years now.
Another proposed development has recently been announced on vacant land at Pacific Quay close to the graving docks.
The plans by Drum Property on behalf of Scottish Enterprise for a mixed use development on the vacant site at Pacific Quay look well conceived at face value and the scale of the development seems appropriate for the location - with buildings similar in height to the nearby BBC building and other offices.
The proposed Pacific Quay development includes 60 homes and a micro-distillery. The site, adjoining the Princes Dock canting basin, has no features of historical interest.

This site is fairly similar in size to the land area on the A-listed Govan Graving Docks that New City Vision are hoping to develop for up to 750 homes with buildings of potentially up to 15 storeys in height.
Given the nature and scale of the Pacific Quay proposals, how can a development of 750 homes on Govan graving docks possibly be appropriate or even viable?
We continue to suspect that the developers are seeking planning consent purely for speculative reasons to increase the value of the site. The scale of the proposed development is way beyond anything else that New City Vision have ever undertaken. Additionally they still haven't completed the redevelopment of Gartloch Hospital site - which they started almost 15 years ago - while allowing listed buildings there to continue to deteriorate.
With the planning application well overdue, now is the time to increase the pressure and build more traction behind alternative proposals. You can help to do this by signing the petition for a sail cargo hub at:
