Pass all 1st and 2nd years at Glasgow Caledonian University

The Issue

Due to the ongoing global pandemic that is changing people’s lives across the world, this petition is being made in favour to pass all 1st and 2nd years at Glasgow Caledonian University.

It simply isn’t fair that students at Glasgow Caledonian University still have to watch online lectures, revise for tests and write essays, with some modules still having online exams, while universities such as Edinburgh, Edinburgh Napier and Herriot Watt are passing all 1st and 2nd years. This is undoubtably going to cause a lot of unneeded problems such as stress and anxiety for students while they try to help look after their families and are potentially working in key worker roles such as food retail.

On top of all this, when it nears deadlines students may be showing symptoms of COVID-19 and might simply not able to do the work as they are too ill to focus on the tasks at hand.

Consistency across all universities is key during a time like this so that everyone can pull together and help beat COVID-19.

As much as we appreciate how much work has gone into putting classes online and providing support, it just doesn’t sit right that some students at other universities are able to put their full time and effort into helping provide for and look after their families while we are facing university work on top of these challenging problems.
