Important Update & Addressing a Key Question about the Colorado CARE Act!

Dear Supporters,
Thank you! Because of individuals like you, we have reached 543 signers and 489 dedicated supporters for the "Empower Working Caregivers: Enact Federal & Colorado CARE Act to Amend ADA & CADA" petition! Your signature and support send a powerful message to lawmakers: caregivers need and deserve legislative protection.
As we continue pushing for the Colorado CARE Act (and the Federal CARE Act), we engage in many conversations and receive valuable feedback. A question that frequently arises, particularly from well-meaning allies and business owners, is about the bill's potential impact on micro-businesses. It's a crucial point, as small businesses are vital to our economy!
To address this directly and provide clarity, I've written a new blog post on the Professionals Who Care website titled: "Under the Microscope: Dispelling Myths About the Colorado CARE Act and Micro-Businesses."
The key takeaway from the article is this: The Colorado CARE Act, as proposed, has been carefully designed with a phased approach and fiscal responsibility in mind. Therefore, the bill currently applies ONLY to employers with fifteen (15) or more employees. This means businesses with fewer than 15 employees are not subject to the accommodation mandates in this initial phase.
This design choice was intentional, aiming to establish essential protections where the capacity for implementation is generally higher, while being mindful of the unique realities of micro-businesses.
I encourage you to read the full blog post to understand this aspect of the bill more thoroughly and see why it's important to address this common misconception.
