Petition to Meta, TikTok, YouTube, and Other Social Media Platforms
Social media has become one of the main ways people discover information, entertainment, and ideas. However, many users feel they do not have enough control over what algorithms choose to place in front of them.

We are asking social media companies to create an optional sexual content filter that allows users to remove sexualized content from their recommended feeds.

This feature should allow users to choose their own experience by giving them control over content recommendations, including:

Sexualized images and videos
Suggestive content
Adult-oriented recommendations
Algorithmically promoted content that users did not intentionally seek out
This request is not about removing content from the internet or limiting personal expression. It is about giving individuals more control over their own digital environment.

People use social media for many reasons: learning, creativity, connection, business, and entertainment. Users should have the ability to shape their feeds according to their personal values, goals, and preferences.

We believe technology should serve users, not force users to adapt to algorithms they cannot control.

We call on social media platforms to:

Add a clear, easy-to-find setting that filters sexual content from recommendation feeds.
Apply this option across algorithmic features such as suggested posts, short-form video feeds, and discovery pages.
Give users transparent controls over the types of content they see.
A healthier digital environment begins with giving people meaningful choices.
