A happy and migraine free Mother's day to all our migraine mums.
You should have received by email the official response from Catherine King, which was great. We can be confident of the new CPRG medications being put on the PBS by a Labor Government once approved by PBAC. No commitment on migraine funding and awareness, but we have been heard, and it's unlikely they'll forget migraine again.
We also have support from:
- Rebekha Sharkie and Centre Alliance, who have said they will follow up on the issue with the minister and advocate for us once the new medicines are recommended by PBAC.
- Support and a commitment to advocate on migraine from Gilmore independent Grant Schultz
- Support from the Science Party
A notable mention to Labor candidate in Wentworth, Tim Murray. In addition to getting in contact to find out for himself exactly what these drugs were about and how life changing they were, he made a point of mentioning the petition and issue to current Wentworth member Kerryn Phelps out on the campaign trail as something she should advocate for. (Phelps hasn't made contact.)
Unfortunately, we did not get a mention from the Liberal or National Parties at their official campaign launch today. We appreciate the support from Lead Senate candidate in NSW, Hollie Hughes, but are continuing to ask for an official response to the petition.
And the Greens made contact after our last update to ask us to take down their email which was posted to the Facebook page and various groups. (Uh, no.) They haven't apologised for their poor response, nor changed their position that they won't support us. I know some Greens voters felt affronted by this, and that's not what we want - we respect and support everyone affected by migraine, but want you all to have the information to inform your vote.
We'll let you know if there's any more changes or commitments between now and election day. Happy voting!
