The Issue

State law gives Spokane until the end of 2026 to finish its 20-year growth plan.

Comments are now due by 5pm Friday, October 2, 2026. Less than two months after their release.

People recovering from the Spokane Complex fires should still have a chance to help shape the plan.

The petition asks the Washington State Legislature to extend Spokane's deadline by six months. It also asks the City to extend the October 2 public-comment deadline and keep comments open throughout the extension.
