For too long, the people of Scotland have been told that our future is not ours to decide. Every time support for independence grows, Westminster finds another reason to delay, deny or ignore Scotland’s democratic voice.

This petition is about one simple principle, the right of the people of Scotland to choose their own future.

Scotland is a nation with its own identity, resources, culture and political direction. Yet major decisions affecting our lives continue to be controlled by governments we did not vote for. Many people across Scotland believe it is time for that to change.

Independence is not about division. It is about democracy, accountability and giving Scotland the power to make decisions that reflect the needs and priorities of the people who live here.

Finally to ensure complete fairness and public trust, any future Scottish independence referendum should be independently overseen by mutually agreed international observers or democratic nations trusted by both Scotland and England.
