My father, Robbie Smith, is the most honest man I’ve ever met. He truly cares about his community and did his job as assistant public works director of Nederland, Texas the best he could. He was fired for “being too old.” The city council begged him to come work for them and he left his secure job of 20+ years to come make the city a better place. The man that fired him had to resign not even a week later. Everyone in the city was criticizing the man that fired him, while telling the council my father did everything he said he’d do. They knew his age while hiring him and now the council acts like they have no control over what happens to him. Please help my father regain his position and help the city of Nederland, Texas. My father is an honest man and everyone in the city can confirm that. When citizens beg for help and the people in charge don’t help, my father is the one that comes through. He is the hardest worker I've ever seen and does what he promises for the citizens of this fine town. Everyone is wondering when will something be done about the flooding in town, when will something be done about that streets and when will something be done about the quality of our city structures. My father is the one that got your street lights on, your lines painted at the library and your sidewalks fixed. If you don’t care about Robbie Smith, you should at least care about your town and the quality of it. I beg you to share this to all your family members and friends, let the council hear it from the rooftops, force them to do what’s right. Robbie smith is the best thing that could happen to Nederland, Texas and he’s the only person that cares about this town’s citizens. You want something done, you know who will actually do it. Keith Bass said when he needed his mothers ditch dug, my father had it done the very next day. When he asked the city, he was ignored for weeks. My father will take care of every citizen that asks for help, but right now, he’s needing your help. Please sign and go to council meetings. Please let them hear your voice and make it to where they have no other choice but to fix this problem and put this city back on top. Robbie Smith is the one selfless person in Nederland, Texas, that really cares about it’s citizens. Please do what’s right and help someone that’s given their whole life to this city. Someone of real character and someone this city really needs. Robbie Smith is the real deal, if you are really ready to see change, help him please. Having the town behind him, is more important than anything. Please show him how important he really is to this town. My father would never ask for it himself, but I know he needs it in this moment. Call the Nederland city council to demand his reinstatement.
