Give more training and awareness to functional neurological disorders

The Issue

Functional Neurological Disorders (FND) are among the most common causes of disability, yet they remain one of the most misunderstood and underfunded areas in medicine. FND affects millions worldwide, leading to debilitating symptoms such as paralysis, seizures, speech impairments, chronic pain, and cognitive difficulties. Despite its prevalence, a severe lack of awareness, research funding, and medical training continues to leave patients misdiagnosed, stigmatized, and without adequate care.

We urge global health organizations, governments, and research institutions to allocate funding for:

1. Medical Training & Education “ Comprehensive education for healthcare providers, including neurologists, psychiatrists, general practitioners, therapists, and emergency responders, to improve early diagnosis and appropriate treatment.

2. Public Awareness Campaigns “ Initiatives to reduce stigma and increase understanding among the general public, employers, and policymakers.

3. Research Investment “ Funding for clinical research to advance treatment approaches, refine diagnostic tools, and improve patient outcomes.

4. Support Services “ Development of specialized rehabilitation programs, mental health resources, and community support networks for those living with FND.

FND patients deserve to be seen, heard, and properly cared for. By investing in training and awareness, we can bridge the gap between science and care, ensuring that no one suffering from FND is left behind.

Sign this petition to demand urgent global action for those affected by FND. Together, we can make a difference.
