The Issue

Artificial Intelligence is a rapidly growing industry which is having a huge impact on commercial and fine artist, and it's only just beginning. Many painters, photographers and illustrators are not happy to see that their images have been included in the creation of the A.I.'s vocabulary without permission. Some are trying to get their images removed, but the effort required would be Kafkaesque at best, and very few artist have that kind of time and resources.

What many artist feel the most offended by is the ability for anybody to use their name as a prompt by asking the A.I. "paint an (anything), in the style of (artist name)."

All A.I. companies already have a large and growing list of banned words for gore and adult content, including the names porn stars. It would be extremely easy for them to allow living working artist to petition to have their names included on that list of banned prompts. This would show that a company like MidJourney, or DALL-E are willing to make one easy gesture to show they have some consideration for living artist ability to earn a living. Thank you for signing and sharing.
