For decades, the residents of the Oakleaf Plantation community and surrounding District 2 area have been waiting for a library of their own.

A library was originally envisioned as part of the infrastructure serving this community when Oakleaf Plantation was being developed. Since then, our community has grown tremendously — yet we continue to wait for this important public resource.

We are a community of young families, students, working adults, and seniors. Oakleaf Plantation alone is home to one high school, one junior high school, and three elementary schools.

A local library would provide so much more than books.

It would give our children a place to study and meet after school. It would support homeschooling families and preschool families. It would provide educational resources, technology, meeting space, and community programming. It could serve as a gathering place for our senior community, a potential early voting location, and a place where local organizations and residents could hold meetings and events.

The nearest Clay County library is a significant distance for many District 2 residents, while nearby Duval County library services are not a substitute for having access to our own county's library system.

The funding for this project has already been approved.

We respectfully ask the Clay County Board of County Commissioners to continue moving this project forward.

Our community has waited for decades.

Let's make 2027 the year District 2 finally gets the library we've been waiting for.
