Continuation of the Fox Series: “Shots Fired" (2017 Series)

The Issue

This petition is to acknowledge and push for a continuation of a series I felt received little to no attention deserved. A story of an African-American police officer who stands in the shoes many have filled today.  After pulling over an unarmed Caucasian college student, his life takes a steep turn that we witness daily. Roles are reversed in the "Shots Fired" series, while other events occur to shed light on issues in the African-American communities.  However, living in a society where our feet turn cold to those of certain ethnicity and fight for those we "believe" are worthy. No being on earth is less worthy of justice, rightfulness, fair treatment, and empathy. We seem to all grasp our own opinion of an individual due to ignorance instead of keeping an open mind and heart. A series that brings our reality to the media could finally receive a breakthrough as technology is advancing and we are now engaging in conversations with depth!

From the the producers of “Love & Basketball”; Gina Prince Bythewood and Reggie Rock Bythewood also produced and wrote this series. While FOX Networks released the show back in 2017. Now living in 2020, we are in need of a show as such with diverse representation among different positions in the working world. In addition, It is relevant to our current events and past which holds the power in displaying our truths. An automatic draw of attention began with the reference to a small but growing hometown of mine; North Carolina. As a resident of North Carolina myself, N.C. experiences high numbers of new settlers from different states. The film will provide new and current residents with the ability to familiarize with the state and finally make an appearance in film longer! There are numerous connections different viewers and audience as a whole can connect to. If anyone who comes across this petition could just watch a few episodes if possible, please proceed. It reveals the good, bad, and ugly upheld throughout our communities, government, jobs, and many more positions. Overall, series touched me and held so much depth (emotionally and mentally.)
