Withdraw "Ghana Hybrid System" oil bill from Ghana Parliament. Approve Production Sharing Agreement (PSA) for more revenues for Ghana's crude Oil!
MESSAGE: Please sign the FTOS-Gh petition for more revenues for Ghana's oil and gas.
Ask President Mahama to withdraw the Ghana Hybrid System bill from the Parliament of Ghana by signing this Fair-Trade Oil Share-Ghana petition. Sign the petition. Then, ask at least 5 of your friends, colleagues, and family member to also sign the petition before it is too late for Ghana.
THE TRUTH: In 5 years (2010-2015) of oil production under the so-called Ghana Hybrid System, Ghana has received just 17% of oil revenues while the oil companies have kept 83%. Other countries with Production Sharing Agreements (PSA), the standard global contract for crude oil, are receiving better than 55% of all oil revenues. Further, it is the PSA that is recommended by the GAO (US government).
JUBILEE OIL FIELD LOSSES: Instead of Ghana receiving 100 million barrels of the oil, Ghana received only 27.2 million barrels. Instead of Ghana receiving $8.6 billion from the Jubilee Oil Fields, Ghana received a paltry $2.6 billion. The Oil Companies pocketed $12.4 billion. That means that over the last 5 years, Ghana has lost more than $6 billion through the "hybrid system". That system continues to allow government ministers to allot numerous crude oil production contracts with no transparency, no public debate, through "under-the-table kickbacks". (This promotes and enables corruption by politicians).
THAT IS NOT FAIR-TRADE: That is not fair trade for Ghana. That is not equity for Ghana. That is not inclusive development! That is not Growth worth a Ghanaian cedi. That is surely not accountability for Ghana's resources.
That is why we are asking you to ask President Mahama and Ghana's Parliament to kill the Ghana Hybrid System bill by signing this petition.
GHANAIANS AND GHANA SUPPORTERS - SIGN THIS PETITION: We are asking you to lend your powerful collective voices to the "Fair Trade Oil Share-Ghana (FTOS-Gh)" campaign by signing the petition. Help Ghana secure more oil revenues. By signing this petition, you are demanding that President Mahama and Mr. Adjaho (the Speaker of Parliament) should withdraw the oil bill called "Ghana Hybrid System" from Parliament immediately, and enact the PSA a the law for Ghana's Oil and Gas instead.
REPEAT: Please ask Mr. Mahama and Mr. Adjaho, the Speaker of Parliament, to withdraw the oil exploration and production (E&P) bill called "Ghana Hybrid System" from Parliament immediately by signing this Change.Org petition. Ask Mr. Mahama and Mr. Adjaho to adopt instead the PSA that will ensure Ghana gets better than 55% of oil revenues to build more schools, more clinics and hospitals, more libraries, more bridges, more better roads, etc,, to build and improve the lives of Ghanaians and the Ghanaian economy.
SUCCESS: Our effort has already stalled the Ghana Hybrid System law. Our final success will be your success too. Success will mean the PSA is adopted and instead of Ghana losing $1 billion each year, Ghana will rather receive about $1 billion more, annually, for needed development. The petitions will be delivered to the President of Ghana and the Ghana Parliament at the end of the petition period, to be determined. (Please sign the petition today and ask your friends, colleagues, and family member to do the same before it is too late for Ghana).
