Crested Butte Mountain Resort (CBMR) has the best snow in recent memory, but Vail Resorts wants to close our mountain while keeping all of its own properties open longer.

Yes, it's not so simple, there are a million moving parts to keeping CBMR running, and Vail is probably afraid they'll lose money by keeping our mountain open longer than required. 

But is it truly impossible for Vail to make it happen? Are they powerless? Have they never made an exception?

Who does this impact? Locals and visitors alike. We want to keep skiing, snowboarding, enjoying the mountain (and yes, we want to give our money to Vail to buy food, park cars, stay in their properties, etc).... If people knew CBMR was staying open longer, people would flock here. 

What's at stake? If Vail would make an exception then many locals would praise them, visitors would flock here for spring skiing -- because let's be honest, it's been too cold and too snowy to even have proper spring skiing. 

What else is at stake? Being heard -- we're Vail's only resort being closed while all its other properties remain open.

Why act now? CBMR is scheduled to close THIS SUNDAY, April 2. I know, I know... it's ridiculous to start a petition so late, but what's the harm? Make your voices heard!
