The Issue

Umo Mobility, which is responsible for all digital bus fare collection in the District of Nanaimo, is taking profits made from Nanaimo public transit users to train soldiers for Trump's illegal war in Iran. How you may ask?  As per their about page:(https://umomobility.com/about-umo/ Umo is a subsidiary company of  Cubic Corporation, which is a privately owned defense contractor: (https://www.cubic.com/customers-contracts#paragraph-tab-9146-1 Cubic is working with the United States Military through multiple active contracts, which seek to help the U.S Military through training soldiers, developing military doctrine, and lending tactical insight through analytical data. (Potentially even with the help of your data!)

This petition aims to show that the citizens of Nanaimo have no interest in funding the training of American troops, and call upon the Regional District of Nanaimo and Transit BC to find a Canadian made solution for digital fare collection in our public transportation system.
