Get Twitter to suspend Kyle Rittenhouse's account
The Issue
On August 25, 2020, Kyle Rittenhouse killed two people and wounded another during a riot protesting the shooting of Jacob Blake, a black man, in Kenosha, Wis. - to which Rittenhouse brought an AR-15-style rifle. Shortly after a court found him not guilty of homicide and reckless-endangerment charges, Rittenhouse and/or his team created a Twitter account and has been tweeting since then.
Twitter should not allow this.
Rittenhouse used his gun to shoot three people and is a killer - regardless of the character of any of the people he shot. He traveled specifically to Kenosha while the unrest was in progress. In killing two individuals and wounding another, he has become a symbol to white supremacists and other dangerous bigots, who want to eradicate black communities and those who support them. These white supremacists have become emboldened by Rittenhouse's actions; they see him as a champion and view the decision as a green light to commit violence against black individuals.
This petition aims to get enough attention so as to convince Twitter to suspend Rittenhouse's account on the platform. Though this may be a tall order, given the thousands of followers he has accumulated in the short time he has been on the site, as well as given the fact that he is a public personality, this petition at least will spread awareness of Twitter's ineptitude at mitigating hate on its own platform.
