Thanks for your support!!! We had a big turnout at the City Council meeting. The officials listened politely to our concerns but largely ignored them and approved the plan. Their response was: 1. They had already spent time and money on this and didn't want to change course, and 2. They felt justified based on the survey they conducted (they failed to mention it was in 2013 and only had 396 respondents out of 100k residents). Frankly, this was local government at its tragic worst: Decision making in a vacuum based on flawed data to spend > $4 million of our tax dollars taking away what we love---open park space.
