In recent months, there has been a MASSIVE uptick in animal abuse & neglect cases. The shelters are overflowing with animals and it's causing an extremely high rate of dogs/cats being abandoned because their owners don't want them anymore. But here's the problem: if someone wants to get rid of an animal, they'll find a way. This is why we NEED much stricter Punishments for abuse, neglect, and abandonment of animals that have done nothing wrong. All these people get is a slap on the wrist and a "don't do it again" from the authorities, and that does absolutely nothing to stop it. I will be writing to my local governing body requesting that they reconsider the level of punishment for Animal Cruelty and give these criminals the punishment they deserve for the pain and suffering they inflict on these animals.

The plan if this petition goes well, is to eventually make it up to the governors office and enact statewide laws. These animals can't speak for themselves, so it's time for us to speak up for them!!!
