Smoking kills 1,200 people a day. It is obvious that smoking is the root cause of many health issues. Many people start smoking as a result of stress, peer pressure or even thinking that its cool! And this is why we want to take smoking out of movies and make something else “cool”. Seeing celebrities smoke can make people think that its cool to smoke and that they’ll be more popular if they smoke, but in reality all it does is shorten your life and make you have a lesser quality life. So we think that if people see that there is no smoking in movies and tv, it may urge at least a few people to stop smoking. Someone already leading the way is Disney, who in 2015 announced that they were banning smoking in all of its PG 13-rated future productions, including Marvel, LucasFilm and Pixar films.
