The League of Legends Worlds Championship is set to make history by hosting its grand finals at the Barclays Center in Brooklyn, New York on November 14, 2026. This marks the first occasion the Worlds Championship Winner will be crowned in New York City, and on the East Coast of the USA.

Worlds is one of the most watched sporting events and most iconic esports events globally, drawing in millions of live viewers. The event features teams from all around the world and will welcome international fans, creators, brands, streamers, and esports enthusiasts. 

Mayor Zohran Mamdani is an advocate for the gaming industry within New York City. He reiterated, "New York City is a top recruiter of gaming jobs, and also making sure the next-generation of engineers and game designers look more like our city." 

By attending, Mayor Mamdani has the chance not only to show support for a monumental event in NYC but also to highlight New York City's commitment to the future of gaming and esports. As many gaming companies within the US are based on the West Coast, it would be extremely meaningful for the mayor to appear and affirm NYC's support for such a large-scale esports event, and the industry as a whole.  

We urge Mayor Zohran Mamdani to use this unique platform to get the crowd hyped and reaffirm NYC's position as a global leader in the gaming industry. Worlds is an extremely fun and hyped event, with an audience that skews towards a younger demographic.
