Just a few weeks ago in August 2022, a woman's drink was spiked with fentanyl on Dickson Street close to the University of Arkansas. Fentanyl also surpasses meth as the leading cause of death in Arkansas. The University of Central Arkansas recently partnered with the state to supply 27 "Naloxboxes" on their campus. https://uca.edu/news/uca-first-arkansas-college-to-participate-in-collegiate-naloxbox-bystander-rescue-program/

Naloxone, or Narcan, is the opioid overdose reversal drug. It comes in two forms: an injection, and a nasal spray. UCA received nasal spray kits - it is simple to use and does not cause any harm if the individual isn't actually overdosing.

If UCA has Naloxboxes in their dorms, Greek houses, and campus hot spots.. why don't we? Other SEC schools like LSU are also making efforts to decrease opioid overdoses by providing Narcan trainings. The University of Arkansas has a duty to show up for its students and provide this life saving medication.
