The Issue

I'm writing this because my wife and I are both disabled, and the reinstatement of the Stirling number 36 route through Castlecary would significantly improve our quality of life. Living in the area near Cumbernauld, we, along with many others, rely heavily on public transport for our daily needs and connectivity. The absence of the number 36 bus route through Castlecary has made it increasingly difficult for us to access essential services, visit family and friends, and lead independent lives.

CastleCary is home to a considerable number of elderly and disabled residents, many of whom, like us, cannot drive. For these individuals, the availability of an accessible bus route is not just a convenience—it's a lifeline. Without it, there are genuine barriers to participating in community life, getting to medical appointments, and maintaining social connections.

In areas like CastleCary, public transport represents equal opportunity and independence for many. According to statistics from the National Transport Authority, areas with limited public transport face increased isolation, reduced economic prospects, and a diminished quality of life. Reinstating the number 36 route would not only restore convenience for many but also strengthen community ties and improve access to local businesses and services.

The solution is clear and actionable. We ask Midland Bluebird to review customer feedback, assess current traffic data, and reconsider the strategic placement of their routes to include CastleCary once again. Doing so will reflect their commitment to serving the needs of all passengers, promoting inclusivity and accessibility for those in our community who need it most.

I urge you to support this cause and help bring much-needed connectivity back to CastleCary. Please sign this petition to get Midland Bluebird to listen and reinstate the Stirling number 36 route through our area.
