Get Lordswood Girls school to enter into meaningful consultation with parents and staff
Why this petition matters
In September 2022 Lordswood Girls School in Harborne Birmingham will become part of the King Edward VI Academy Trust.
Staff have recently been striking over a lack of meaningful consultation about the transfer which will affect their employment.
As a parent I feel that there has been a complete lack of consultation and opportunity to fully understand how this move will benefit the school and ultimately my daughter and other pupils.
Information has been presented as a done deal, there has been no discussion about the benefits and potential negative changes we might see as parents in the future. Something commonly experienced in other multi academy trusts (MATs).
I want to be confident that the benefits outweigh any potential challenges and as parents at Lordswood Girls School we can only know that if a meaningful discussion takes place.
The Lordswood Girls School still has the power to change what has become an unsettling situation.
This petition is to ask the school management to halt the transfer until meaningful consultation can be achieved with parents and teachers. If the move to join the King Edward IV Academy Trust is the right decision for the school this will come out in the consultation process and things will proceed at a later date.
It is better for our children to be taught by teachers who feel supported and listened to, than have them learn in an environment of distrust that encourages demoralised staff and pupils.
A delay in the process will help achieve this.
