Climate change is a serious issue that will impact the entire planet.  Global warming is causing more droughts, flooding, extreme heat, and natural disasters, and it is important that we do not wait.

Global warming is caused by emissions of greenhouse gases such as carbon dioxide and methane.  One main source of emissions is food waste.  When food rots in landfills or is incinerated, it emits gases such as methane that further increase global warming.  And about 30-40% of food produced in the United States is wasted.  Around 36% of what people throw away in Boston can be composted.

By petitioning BPS to provide compost bins in all their schools, we can make a difference in sustainability and make a greener environment for Boston. We can slow down the effects of climate change to make a safer and better environment.
