Get an Accident & Emergency unit in Stratford Hospital
The Issue
Stratford-upon-Avon, a unique town renowned for its rich history and cultural significance, is also a bustling hub that attracts over 8 million visitors annually. It's home to a current population of more than 146,000 residents, with plans to expand the community by an additional 50,000 to 60,000 people in the near future to meet government housing needs. This growth and influx of people place additional strain on essential services, especially healthcare.
Despite its significance as a major tourism destination and sizeable population, Stratford Hospital lacks an Accident & Emergency (A&E) unit. As residents and frequent visitors of this vibrant region, we recognise the pressing need for a dedicated A&E unit to ensure prompt medical attention and care. The absence of such a facility puts undue pressure our nearest A&E in Warwick (10 miles distant across a major motorway intersection, via a congested national trucking route, and with inadequate carparking), increases emergency response times, and potentially risks the lives of residents and visitors who require urgent medical care.
Healthcare is a fundamental right, and every second counts in emergency situations. Establishing an A&E unit at Stratford Hospital would not only serve the growing population but also alleviate the burden on neighbouring emergency departments, thereby improving healthcare outcomes across the board.
The installation of an A&E unit would bring multiple socio-economic benefits too. It would create jobs, provide local medical training opportunities, and enhance the town's reputation as a place where the well-being of its residents and visitors is prioritised.
We urge local authorities, healthcare providers, and policymakers to recognise the urgent need for this crucial addition to Stratford Hospital. By signing this petition, you can help us bring crucial emergency healthcare services to our community—protecting and providing for everyone who calls Stratford-upon-Avon home and all those who visit this historic town.
Please support this essential cause and sign the petition to make our community safer and healthier.
