To those who have inquired and to those patient with anticipation, we are pleased to announce that The Woodstock Monument Project has taken a positive move forward:
Dear Friends - Old, New, and soon to be … and to those people that I’ve not yet had the pleasure of meeting … and to those who love ‘Everything Woodstock’ … especially to the infinitely talented people out there who are music aficionados, architects, artists, designers, engineers, historians, musicians, and fabricators … and last but not least, to my fellow dreamers and believers in ‘The Woodstock Monument Project’:
Thank you for your unwavering support and stalwart patience. My Creative Director, Bill Lucano and I, were recently invited to meet with Dr. Neal V. Hitch, Senior Curator and Director of the Museum at Bethel Woods; and Robin Green, Assistant to the Museum Director and Executive Assistant to CEO, Development Team at the Gerry Foundation, to present our historical review of the iconic Woodstock Monument, as well as offer BWCA a detailed cost analysis to add to and/or update the information that appears on the monument’s 3 current plaques. Our main thrust is to include a smaller, 4th plaque, which will hold the names of the omitted and missing names for all eternity to read.
We strongly feel that every single musical act that performed at Woodstock in August of 1969 be listed, and to properly recognize the four young men who produced the event, as well as the property owner who permitted the festival to take place on his land. Our aim was, and still is, to keep moving the Woodstock Monument Project forward. Our goal is to be inclusive to those people who are still not properly represented, as well as insuring the artistic integrity of the current sculpture is maintained.
The meeting was very well-received, and included a robust Q&A, a detailed cost analysis, and many research pieces to support our position during the historical timeline. There was an abundance of positive energy and enlightening commentary during the factual and eye opening exchanges.
We left the meeting more informed about the many processes and procedural initiatives that need to be established in order to take place. Some are very involved, and may take time, but there was also a very positive vibe. We came away with a much clearer understanding of what the next necessary steps will eventually be taken to see our proposal finally realized. We’re in this for the long haul.
When we receive any updates we will certainly inform everyone.
Thank you, it’s very much appreciated!
Warmest regards,
Patrick Colucci; Woodstock Nation Representative & Woodstock Monument Project Leader
