Stop the Development of the Bluegrass RV Park

The Issue

Bluegrass RV is proposing the construction of an RV Park behind their Connector Rd./US 460 location in Georgetown, KY. The park will back up to the western portion of the Rocky Creek neighborhood and have an entrance across from the car washes on Connector Rd. The proposal includes 100 spaces for RVs plus a few additional rental cabins.

Our concerns include:

  • The volume of existing traffic on US 460 and Connector Rd., especially during Toyota shift change (which coincides with typical RV park check-in time) that would be heavily effected by the addition of multiple RV's and campers.
  • The lack of a south-bound exist on I-75 near the proposed park location which will force camp traffic to utilize Cherry Blossom to make a right turn onto Connector Rd. or to travel down US 460 and make use of the small existing left turn lane at the corner of US 460 and Connector Rd.
  • Camper backup while waiting to check in at the proposed camp which would cause a drastic increase in congestion along Connector Rd., US 460 and, potentially, Cherry Blossom.
  • The additional stress on the near-capacity sewage system in Georgetown
  • The potential for excess noise and transient population encampments.
  • The potential depreciation of home values in Rocky Creek and Elkhorn Green.

Our hope is to get enough signatures on this petition to convince the Georgetown-Scott County Planning Comission that the citizens of Georgetown, KY do not want this RV Park and that they subsequently deny the proposal. The next committee meeting will be held on January 9, 2020 at 6 p.m.
