George’s River Council have been deliberating for many years, how they will honour Kogarah war memorial pool at Carss Park. It is in need of a desperate rebuild/renovation and there is overwhelming demand by local residents to honour its legacy and keep it at the same location.

Our PM has even offered a grant of $5 mil to rebuild but only at it’s current location. 

Instead of continuing to run tests at this site and pursue this, George’s River Council have decided to pursue a different location. Todd Park. 

Todd Park is an extension of Carss Park, a site with many protected sites. It is not only a park but a unique park to the area. It is a popular, highly visited park by many walks of life. It is home to many local sporting clubs and frequently visited by the local schools.

It has the only public football field in the area, the only outdoor basketball court, the only kid-friendly, learn-to-ride bike and scooter track in the area, and one of the only open green spaces we have left in an ever-growing, over- developing city. 

Yes, there is a demand for more pools in the area but there is also a demand to protect our open green spaces. 

In light of the overwhelming public outrage, surely, the GRC can come up with a better solution than this.
