Hello all 320,086 of you amazing people!!!!
A list of tampon tax fund beneficaries have been announced by the Government, giving a total of £30m to female-focused charities over the past two years. That's pretty amazing.
However, since the announcement there has been concern raised about the Government granting £250,000 of revenue collected from the tampon tax to charity 'Life' that speak out against abortion, which is a controversial and divisive topic. I have received emails on this that have been really thought-provoking.
If you are unhappy with this and want to take action then please tweet to Rob Wilson, Minister for Civil Society, who is responsible for the fund's grant allocations.
I want to stress that this allocation has nothing to do with our campaign.
The Tampon Tax fund, which has seen £30 million go to amazing female-focused charities so far, was established in 2016 by George Osbourne. It was introduced as a temporary method to support our campaign and help vulnerable women until it became ‘legally possible’ to scrap tampon tax. Period. So many women and charities have benefitted, such as those working on groundbreaking gynaecological cancer research at Tampon Tax Fund beneficiary charity ‘The Eve Appeal’.
We've seen lots of women benefit from our campaign and through the tampon tax fund - thank you for your support!! :)
