Hello lovely people!!!! BIG PRAISE for Danny Kinahan, Ulster Unionist Party MP, for tackling the Chancellor of the Exchequer, George Osborne on the injustices that underpinned his £15m 'Tampon Tax Fund'. A series of failures surrounded the fund, £5m of which was allocated before application forms were released (yep, seriously!). Other failures include the application form itself, which was ambiguous and not accompanied by any explanatory materials, and the incredibly short time given before the deadline was announced. Kinahan has questioned the Chancellor two days in a row now. Let's hope he gets a sufficient answer soon!! In the meantime, Kinahan, know that you have 300,000 people on your side! I have copied his questions below :) Thank you guys for being awesomeee! Laura x -- Sanitary Protection: Taxation Danny Kinahan: [41191] To ask Mr Chancellor of the Exchequer, how the £15 million tampon tax fund has been allocated in the UK. Mr David Gauke: The Tampon Tax Fund supports women’s charities that are making a significant impact in the lives of women and girls in the UK, including health, wellbeing and education initiatives, and services for vulnerable women. The bids selected represent a range of different initiatives to benefit women across the whole of the UK. In total, 25 charities have been allocated funding so far. This includes £5.2 million of funding allocated to Comic Relief and Rosa, to disburse funding over the coming year to a range of grassroots women’s organisations across the UK, in recognition of the high number of applications received. 5 July 2016 Sanitary Protection: Taxation Danny Kinahan: [41191] To ask Mr Chancellor of the Exchequer, how the £15 million tampon tax fund has been allocated in the UK.
