gender equality now!

gender equality now!
The Issue
This petition stems from a deeply personal concern: despite existing laws that prohibit discrimination based on sex in the United States, all our presidents to date have been males. Questions arise about the apparent bias towards males that persists even in a society that claims to strive for equality. Are we truly equal?
Evidence suggests that, while progress has been made, gender equality has not been fully realized. A Boston Consulting Group study found that for every dollar made by men, women in the US make just 83 cents (Boston Consulting Group, 2017). Moreover, US women are underrepresented in political offices — holding less than 30% of elected positions (Center for American Women and Politics, 2021).
Laws prohibiting discrimination are a start, but we must also tackle ingrained societal prejudice to ensure true gender equality. Let's bring these disparities to light and demand action. Our goal with this petition is to encourage educational and governmental institutions to promote true gender equality through policy, culture change, and promoting equal representation in our leadership roles, including the presidency.
By signing this petition, you are joining a call for a fair and equal society where gender bias has no place. We urge you to lend your support to this vital cause. Please sign the petition now.
