I am a current student at Ross S. Sterling high school. If these new dress code rules were to be implemented, I fear the schools in the district would lose funds from parents enrolling their kids. These rules are going against the freedom to choose what students wear or their actual appearance in general. I myself would say I’m a creative student; I wear baggy clothing, have dyed hair, a few piercings. If anything, GCCISD should be focusing on our safety. A child DIED at my school and it is still a issue because that school had barely done anything and it could’ve been easily prevented! But no, they want to worry about the male students wearing skirts, putting makeup on or even having long hair? This is very discriminatory to the LGBTQ+ community. (a reason to be sued as well) We all need to speak up. The first amendment is freedom of speech after all.

Over the past few years, interest in collegiate equestrian has exploded, with families now reaching out as early as middle school to understand pathways to ride at the next level.
Equestrian programs consistently produce student-athletes with some of the highest team GPAs on campus and foster discipline, leadership, time management, and academic excellence. Reinstating the UC Davis equestrian team matters not only to UC Davis, but to the sport of equestrian as a whole and to the countless young women who look to programs like this as a pathway to opportunity, growth, and leadership.

While boys are free to sag their pants or bend dress code rules without the same scrutiny, girls are being singled out and restricted. This sends the message that our clothing is inherently inappropriate or distracting, which shifts the blame onto us instead of holding everyone to the same expectation of respect. In a Catholic school that preaches dignity, equality, and moral responsibility, it feels hypocritical to enforce a rule that disproportionately limits girls’ expression while overlooking the same behavior in boys. Do better O’dowd.

I learned about FGM from her when she had a client who had to undergo surgery just to be able to give birth safely, let alone the original pain and mutilation she underwent and all the problems in between. I know it is hard for a culture to change, but this is one practice that absolutely must be eliminated.

The behavior that has been displayed toward members of the Haitian community, women, and individuals in the LGBT community is unacceptable. Using a platform to spread hate, make threats, or cause emotional harm to others — including artists like Marc D and many others — should not be normalized.
Freedom of speech does not mean freedom to intimidate or traumatize people. Social media platforms like TikTok and Instagram should be spaces where people feel safe to express themselves without fear of harassment.
Accountability matters. Respect matters. Our communities deserve better.
