Terminate Jordan Sargent as an employee immediately, formally apologize to David Geithner and his Family, and pull the hit piece on Mr. Geithner

The Issue

The decision to run an article publicly outing a private citizen's sexuality, especially when this citizen is the CFO of a competing organization, not only is unacceptable and immoral, it smears on the name of real journalists and journalism publications across the United States. Journalists are supposed to go seeking corruption not make money off of ad revenue and article clicks from a conjured up 'scandal' where the victims are minors and innocent bystanders.

The failure, however wasn't only Jordan Sargent - the author of this horrendous smear article - but the entire editorial staff who never stopped to ask whether they should be running an article about the private actions of a private citizen. Not only have you put this man's career in jeopardy you've now made his wife and three children the center of attention for many people all in the name of... I don't know what. This dastardly attempt at stirring up 'controversy' that shouldn't be controversy - wake up Gawker it's the 21'st century it's not a scandal to love someone of the same sex - is the epitome of what journalism isn't. It's sad that so many private lives have now been shattered in one fell swoop of a mouse click as this article was made public. This isn't investigative journalism. It's an editorial assassination attempt of a competing publication's CFO. It's disgusting.

Furthermore, I would encourage Gawker Media to send public apologies to all their advertisers whom I will be including a picture below for other people to see. The decisions of your employees not only affect the people they write about but the people who support your organization. Legitimate claims can now be lobbied against those who support your organization in questioning whether they support this kind of unethical behavior with their advertising revenue.
