The opening of the Wedding & Event Industry in California

The opening of the Wedding & Event Industry in California
The Issue
The Wedding and Event industry has been devastated by this complete shutdown. California accounts for well over a billion dollars in revenue from weddings & events. In the last 90 days alone the industry has lost an estimated 400,000 dollars in just the direct revenue. This does not account for the hundreds of thousands of dollars in revenue lost on tourism, hotel stays, food & gas bought from guests attending the event. Tens of thousands of employees have been laid off and many small businesses have lost their livelihood. This affects several categories including Hotels, Venues, DJs, Photographers, Videographers, Officiants, Rentals, Photo Booths, Bakers, Caterers, Transportation, Gown shops, Tuxedo shops, jewelers, security, bartenders, event planners, just to highlight a few.
This is the income we count on to feed our families, pay our employees not to mention the overhead that still needs to be paid such as rent on offices, utilities, phones, internet, etc.
We are asking Gov Newsom to allow wedding & event to resume in a safe manner. If Churches, gyms, and amusement parks can re-open there should be no reason weddings & events should not be allowed. Weddings are happening with or without the consent and guidance of the government in backyards all over California. Let the industry resume so we can not only make a living but keep our fellow Californians safe by implementing the guidelines sent down from our state leaders.
