The addition of 'The Quiet Man' cottage and its curtilage to the Record of Protected Structures would NOT require the adjacent 1950s bungalow to be retained – as the bungalow makes no contribution to cultural heritage nature of the site.
Yes, protected structure status applies to the full attendant grounds or 'curtilage', but ONLY to those features of it which contribute to the heritage interest of a site. Therefore, in this case, the stepping stones, outhouse, dry-stone walls and concrete bridge would be protected, but not the 1950s bungalow, as it could never be seen as making a contribution.
