Do not force Adrian ‘Era’ Kryeziu of Dota 2 team Fnatic, to choose between TI4 and his health.

The Issue

The International 4, will be the biggest e-sports tournament in history, with 10$M prizepool. Adrian has a psychological condition that will most likely prevent him from playing in 18-21st of July. Valve Corporation, -the organizer-, will disqualify Team Fnatic if they don't play with Era.

Era has been absent of most of the recent Team Fnatic LAN Events because of his illnes, but he and his team have decided to kept it private until now, because it was inconsistent and the chance remained that he could play this tournament, fully recovered. We are speaking about panic attacks, a psycological condition that if isn't treated properly, can produce sequels in the adult years.

This is Adrian's and Team Fnatic's recent statement on the situation. If you are unable to read the article, due to high traffic on the site at the moment of reading this, you can check Google's cache copy here.

For this tournament, Valve has allowed team Evil Geniuses to replace another invited player, Clinton 'Fear' Loomis, due to being injured with carpal tunnel syndrome. By reading this Reddit thread, you can check some of the Dota 2 community opinions on how it doesn't make any sense that one player gets an exception due to a physical condition, and the other doesn't because it's psycological. That's what we can asume is the case at least, because Valve hasn't voiced themselves publicly on the matter, they have only communicated with Team Fnatic privately.

Valve's rules with roster changes for this tournament, aren't pretty clear, and are mostly deduced based on speculation, what we do know is that they are very strict with not changing the roster after invites have been sent out. Last year, invited team LGD from China, was moved down to qualifiers due to changing one of their players.

But this year the situation is very different, as qualifiers have already ended and there's no room for that. Either Adrian ‘Era’ Kryeziu plays with his team, assuming a great risk for his health that may damage it for a long time, maybe the rest of his life, or Fnatic gets disqualified of the tournament in a very unfair way.

Sign this petition to show Valve that this is unfair to Adrian ‘Era’ Kryeziu and his team. They all have been training very hard for this tournament,-sometimes maybe even more hours a day than a normal job or athlete-,10 million dollars are at stake, and of course the chance to fight for their dream.

This prizepool was mostly funded by the community, via a digital purchase to support and follow the tournament, "we" almost made the prizepool ten times bigger. This game has always been about the community; the suggestions on game balance, the hero suggestions, the endless theorycraft and help at the forums, the competitive teams that arised and made history, and the ones that left. This is the game we love.

This is why I know the Dota 2 community won't stand impassible and will support this petition. But need the support of people outside of the community too, to show Valve Corporation that they shouldn't force this situation. They showed us in the documentary 'Free to Play' that there are human histories behind proffessional e-sports players, they showed us the human side of Dota 2, and now they seem not to care in this case.

Sign this to ask Valve to let Fnatic play with their stand-in, Steve 'Xcalibur' Ye, so Era can have time to recover from his condition as fast as needed, and isn't forced to damage his mental health.
