To the Secretary of State for Transport, UK Government, I hereby request that the wording of the contract between HS1 and Eurostar due to be finalized August 16 2024 does NOT include a clause that allows the train operator to always avoid Ashford International Station. This will then keep open future options for the Secretary of State to negotiate with Eurostar or any other train operator to revive the station, with all the benefits of easier travel for passengers from both sides of the Channel, as well as the resilience of having another station to utilise in the event of a line blockage.
