Fund Wagga Women’s Health Centre: Domestic Violence is Preventable

Fund Wagga Women’s Health Centre: Domestic Violence is Preventable
The issue
To: Premier Chris Minns and the NSW Government
We, the undersigned, call on you to take immediate action to fund the Wagga Women’s Health Centre (WWHC) so it can continue its vital work in primary prevention of domestic and family violence across Wagga Wagga and the Riverina.
Despite record investment in domestic violence programs, our region has been left without any of the primary prevention funding announced this year. This is unacceptable - especially given the alarming rates of violence in rural and regional NSW.
The WWHC has been working with women for over 40 years, providing trauma-informed care and early intervention that prevents violence before it starts. The Centre is now at risk of losing these programs when they are needed most.
We ask the NSW Government to:
• Provide immediate, ongoing funding for the WWHC’s primary prevention work
• Ensure equity for rural and regional communities in future domestic violence funding allocations
Every woman, no matter where she lives, deserves to be safe — and every community deserves the resources to help make that safety possible.
