The Issue

Dear Neighbor,

Allston-Brighton needs your help to push the Wu Administration to fund a replacement for the ailing Jackson Mann Community Center. Jackson Mann is the only community center serving the 85,000 residents of Allston-Brighton, yet the Wu Administration has failed to commit funds and set a schedule to replace and update the facility.

City community centers provide critical services that aid and enrich our lives, from language and training programs to after school sports, study programs, and arts activities. Yet while the city is breaking ground for new facilities in other neighborhoods, often the 3rd or 4th in those communities, it refuses to commit time and money to update the only community center in Allston-Brighton.

We need your help to pressure City Hall and show that residents of Boston’s second largest neighborhood refuse to be in last place for community services.

Concerned citizens have held rallies and created petitions with hundreds of participants supporting Jackson Mann, but it seems hundreds is not enough. We need your help to gather thousands of supporters – so many that City Hall can no longer ignore us.

Our demands for Mayor Wu and City Hall:

  1. Commit the requested $65 million into the city budget.
  2. Commit to a construction timeline with specific start and finish dates.
  3. Commit to a transition plan during construction, phased if necessary, that will ensure continuity of services for those participating in programs at Jackson Mann.

Please sign our petition and join our movement to update the Jackson Mann Community Center!
