The Texas Voucher Bill allows families to receive $10,000 a year per student in public taxpayer dollars to fund their children’s tuition at an accredited private school and other expenses like textbooks, transportation and therapy. $10k of YOUR tax money per student pay raise for families that are already able to pay for these schools. Even though governor Greg Abbott has promised a "raise" to teachers' salaries, this causes him to take a higher percentage of their money into TRS(Teacher Retirement System of Texas), which will be gone in 12 years, unless Texas changes the system.

We've started seeing signs of how underfunded Texas public schools are. On February 5th, 2025, due to budget cuts, the Leander Independent School District cut the IB program from our schools, effective at the end of the 2025-6 school year. This cuts over 100 jobs from our district and eliminating opportunities for students to learn through the most accredited education program in the world.
