We are urging the WDRC CEO and elected officials to prioritize and implement a wage increase for the workers. This adjustment needs to align with the rising cost of living, which is imposing increasing economic stress on the household budgets of WDRC employees and their families.

Many workers are finding it increasingly difficult to manage their basic living costs, let alone provide for their future or cover unforeseen expenses.

WDRC workers are our neighbours, friends, and family members.  The Community deserves skilled and experienced workers serving our community, and these workers deserve to be paid accordingly.

For WDRC, supporting fair wages would not just be a show of gratitude to its workers, but is also a crucial step towards sustainable workforce management. By realigning wages with inflation, the Council can ensure that economic stress does not overshadow the critical work provided by its staff and protect the well-being of their families.

We implore the WDRC management and elected officials to recognize the significant contributions of these workers and respond to their legitimate calls for a fair wage increase. By doing so, they can contribute positively towards maintaining high morale, reducing turnover, and building a strong, motivated team dedicated to their duties.
