Fund a Low Barrier Shelter for the Unhoused Population in Billings

The Issue

From personal experience, homelessness is a situation no one should have to face. Despite this reality, numerous individuals in the City of Billings, Montana, have no place to call home. The available support does not meet the demands of Billings' unhoused population. We urgently need funding for a low barrier shelter in our city.

According to a recent point-in-time survey conducted by the Montana Department of Public Health and Human Services, the number of people experiencing homelessness in Montana has increased by 12% since 2019. This growth is set to continue due to the economic challenges brought about by the COVID-19 pandemic. The proposed low barrier shelter will not only provide refuge for the unhoused population but also a pathway to better their futures, reducing the homelessness rate in our city.

Fellow Billings residents, let us stand in solidarity with our neighbors in need. Join us in petitioning our City Council to ensure the allocation of funding for a low barrier shelter for the unhoused population. Help us create a City where no one is left outside. Please sign this petition.
